September 2008:
Plaintiff Miguel Castaneda filed a
complaint alleging that
approximately 93 Burger King® restaurants in California -- those leased
by or from Burger King Corporation itself -- contained barriers to individuals
who use wheelchairs or scooters.
February 2009:
The Court denied Burger King Corporation's motions to dismiss and to stay discovery. Here
is the Court's ruling.
March 2009:
The Court granted Plaintiff's motion to amend
his complaint to add
two additional Plaintiffs, Joseph Wellner and Katherine Corbett.
October 2009:
By order dated September 25, 2009, the Court
approved a class action covering ten restaurants in the Northern California
area.
March 2010:
We reached a settlement with Burger King Corporation concerning barriers to individuals who use wheelchairs or scooters in the ten of its leased restaurants in Northern California. You can read the Settlement Agreement online .
July 2010:
The Judge granted final approval of the settlement.
